During the 17th century, the estate stretched on more than 550 ha.
It belonged to the monks of Saint Jean and housed sheepfolds :

During the 19th century Monsieur Mathieu SEURIN, who was a ship-owner, bought the Estate. Towards 1870, he used the existing smallholding to support new buildings: a castle, stables, an aviary, and a pigeon house. Château Léognan changed owner during those years. Monsieur Jean Marie DUBOS, who was a famous wine merchant in the ‘DUBOS Frères’ company became the new landowner. He built a gallery supported by four columns. He also created a pond and a pen for fallow deers
